Check out these fantastic movie remakes

It feels like remakes are more and more common in the last few years.

A good remake can remind you why you love the original or give you a good reason to go watch it for the first time, so it’s no surprise they’re being made so often. Unfortunately, they can’t all be winners, and that’s why we’re here with a list of some of our favourites.

Sometimes a remake is so good, that it’s arguably better than the original. These are the holy grails of remakes, and it’s the ultimate goal for anyone who sets out to make one. Sometimes these set themselves apart by just doing what the original did better. Maybe the original was a great idea but flawed, or maybe it had a troubled development. Either way a second go can be just what it needs.

Let’s take a look at our top 3 remakes:

The Departed

Many of us are familiar with Scorsese’s gangster flick. Not all of us know that The Departed took home four Oscars, including best picture. Even less of us are aware it’s a remake of the Hong Kong film Infernal Affairs.

The Thing

John Carpenter’s classic is often considered one of the best horror movies of all time, but not everyone knows that it’s actually a remake of The Thing from Another World. This movie is renowned for its clever use of practical effects that make it just as scary in 2022 as it was in the 80s.

Scarface

“Say hello to my little friend” has become a part of our everyday speech because of this film by Brian De Palma. It’s actually a remake of a 1932 film that easily outdoes the original Scarface. This movie takes the story and elevates it to a cultural icon making it one of our top 3 remakes.

Kicking back and watching a great movie can be an amazing way to unwind after a tough day. One of the best feelings is scrolling through the tv guide and seeing one of your favourite movies. You immediately stop and press play with a smile on your face. Having them on demand with a good streaming service can be just as good.
